Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Cleaver Duel is designed to collect as little data as possible. There are no accounts, no chat, and no stored match history. This policy explains the limited data that is still involved when you visit the site or play a match, including the data used by advertising.
Who we are
Cleaver Duel is an independent browser game. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected]. This address is also the contact point for data protection requests.
Summary
- No accounts, logins, profiles, or chat.
- Sound and hotkey settings are stored in your browser's local storage only.
- Matches use a direct peer-to-peer WebRTC connection. Your opponent's browser can see your IP address, and you can see theirs.
- Our hosting and signaling providers may process technical data such as IP addresses and connection metadata to deliver and protect the service.
- Advertising is served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies and similar technologies as described below.
Information we process
Settings stored in your browser
Your volume, mute preference, and custom hotkeys are saved in localStorage under keys used by this site. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
Technical data
When you load the site, Cloudflare (our hosting and CDN provider) processes standard request data such as your IP address, browser type, requested URL, and timestamps in order to serve the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. Cloudflare may keep short-lived logs for those purposes. The signaling service also processes the room code and connection information needed to introduce two browsers to each other; it does not store game state or match history.
Peer-to-peer connection
Cleaver Duel uses WebRTC to connect the two players directly. As part of establishing that connection, each browser learns network information about the other, including IP addresses and, depending on your network, candidates that can reveal local network details. This is inherent to peer-to-peer play. The other player can see this information, just as you can see theirs. We do not receive or store it.
Game data
Positions, inputs, health, and round results are exchanged between the two browsers during a match and are not written to a server-side database. A room exists only for the duration of the match and the short signaling window around it.
Advertising data
The site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve, measure, and limit ads, including personalized ads where permitted by law. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and advertising
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving on this website. For more information about how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Where required, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform asks for your consent before cookies or identifiers are used for personalized advertising. You can accept, reject, or change your choices through that consent dialog. If you decline personalized advertising, you may still see non-personalized ads. You can also manage personalization through Google Ads Settings.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — operating the game, keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and understanding whether the site works.
- Consent — personalized advertising and any optional cookies or identifiers that require consent. You can withdraw consent at any time through the consent dialog.
- Legal obligation — responding to lawful requests or protecting legal rights where required.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only with service providers that help run the site, principally Cloudflare for hosting, CDN, and signaling, and Google for advertising. Those providers process data under their own terms and safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and its users.
Retention
Settings in local storage remain until you clear them. Server and CDN logs are kept by the relevant provider for a limited period for security and operational purposes. Game state is transient and is not retained after a match.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Because Cleaver Duel does not have accounts, we may have little or no data that identifies you; if you make a request, we will explain what we can and cannot do.
For California residents: we do not sell personal information. You can control personalized advertising through the consent dialog and Google Ads Settings.
Children
Cleaver Duel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, they use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
